Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mothering Sunday is about as late as it can be this year, 30th March (2025).  It’s a ‘moveable feast’ because it’s celebrated in conjunction with Easter (also a moveable feast).  (It has fallen on 1st April before – no joke!)  With time, Mothering Sunday has become Mothers’ Day, a lovely excuse to treat the caring ladies in your life to let them know you value them.  We know that it can sometimes be difficult to buy gifts for others, or to think up something original that they will love, so we’ve compiled our top recommendations from here at Hambrooks Garden Centre at Titchfield to inspire you.

A cast iron gift idea!

New in at the Garden Centre are some lovely items from Fallen Fruits, who have recently delivered some ideal ideas for gardening-related gifts.  From these sturdy boot scrapers (what gardener doesn’t need those at the back door!), to outdoor thermometers and some fun coat hooks in the shape of a pair of antlers!

They are sure to make a long lasting and very useful gift.

We’ve also got some lovely wall art in at the moment it she’d like something purely decorative.  Have a browse here.

It’s all Teak to me…

There really is something beautiful about natural wood – and we’ve got a selection of particularly beautiful wooden items in store now.

If you have the budget, why not splash out on a table or chair for you Mum to enjoy in her garden. If you’d prefer a more pocket-sized gift, these cute bee ornaments start from just £ 2.49!

We have a range of furniture and ornaments to suit everyone, that will look right at home anywhere.  They are treated so will require minimum care to keep them looking good for years to come, too.

Browse them online here.

The birds and the bees!

If your Mum likes to encourage wildlife into her garden, why not treat her to one of our gorgeous wildlife homes?  We have bee and insect houses, bat roosts and bird boxes to choose from.  Prices start from just £ 9.99 and they are treated to last outside for many years.

It may be too late to have birds nesting in a bird box this year but putting one up now allows it times to ‘weather’ ready for next year – but you just never know!  It’s the perfect time to put up insect and bat homes, though.

You can browse our full ‘wildlife’ collection here.

A gift you’ve made yourself

Even if you are not the most practical or gardening-minded person, we think anyone could plant up a really pretty hanging basket or pot to make a great seasonal gift.  We have everything you need: the baskets, basket liners, compost and a great selection of plants, both evergreens and those in flower now.  If you’re concerned about budget, this will certainly be more cost-effective than buying a ready-made pot or basket elsewhere, plus the time and thought you put into it will be priceless!

We’ve got some lovely spring plants in right now, including quality herbs, and they are on a 3 for 2 offer. There’s also a kitchen planter set for just £12.  So lots of choice

Let her choose her own gift

If you really can’t decide what to get her, or if you don’t trust yourself to choose something she will really like, did you know that we have Gift Vouchers?  For those local to us, we have Hambrooks Vouchers, available in units of £5, to spend on anything in our Titchfield Centre.  Choose from one of our four beautiful voucher designs and a colourful envelope to present it in.  If you’ll need to send your voucher further afield, we also have National Garden Gift Vouchers, which are accepted in over 1,000 garden centres across the UK.  Find both vouchers at the main till point.

And don’t forget the card!

Cunningly, we’ve put our lovely selection of greetings cards right next to the tills in our Centre so you’ve no excuse for forgetting!  From beautiful flowers to local scenes, we have a range of any occasion cards that your Mum is sure to love.

Happy Mother’s Day from us all!
