Most zonal pelargoniums have one parent, P. zonale. It is a bushy plant with fleshy stems that become woody as it ages. The plant has smooth, rounded, mid-green leaves with a narrow, dark green zone. It typically reaches a height of 1m, but can grow up to 3m when supported by a wall in a glasshouse. Clusters of narrow-petalled flowers in pink, white, or purple colors can bloom almost year-round in warm, bright environments, or during summer and early autumn in other conditions.
